We work alongside rest homes, GP’s, Health Board and home care agencies raising awareness of dementia in our community

RIDING FOR DISABLED

rda Geraldine Riding for the disabled provides therapeutic riding opportunities for riders in the greater Geraldine area.   We work with schools to provide riding therapy which promotes confidence, concentration, balance and co-ordination. It also encourages social skills, self esteem perception and spatial awareness.

CYSTIC FIBROSIS

CF LogoCystic Fibrosis is a life threatening genetic disease primarily affecting the lungs and digestive system.   Our branch aims to improve the quality of life for people with this disease and we wish to purchase PARI-boy nebulisers which most people need to use twice a day.   Logan Thompson who is in our care has just finished his last year at school and is hoping to go to Canterbury University to continue his studies.

YMCA deliver our award-wining Resiliency Toolkit to secondary schools in the Timaru area with rollout to outlying areas in 2018. It provides support for young people years 9-13 in terms of mental health, wellbeing and mentoring to manage stress and emotional challenges. The Resiliency Toolkit aims to prevent young people becoming a risk in the first place

GRAEME DINGLE FOUNDATION

FYD Canterbury CMYKOur Trust delivers Life Skills and youth development programmes continuing with the very successful Kiwi Can programme here in South Canterbury. This is aimed at students from 5-12 years of age delivered once a week for every week of the school year. School principals tell us that Kiwi Can has a noticeable effect on how well their children interact with each other – with significant decreases in truancy and bullying in the playground.

LEARNING 4U

L4ULearning 4U provides specialised information, advice, assessment and specific individual tuition to children, family and whanau who experience difficulties in learning.   We support students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning difficulties in literacy and numeracy. We have 7 registered teachers available to provide weekly individual tuition.

HOSPICE - SOUTH CANTERBURY

hospice logo Hospice palliative care affirms life with care and support to the terminally ill and their family/whanau free of charge to anyone living in South Canterbury area 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. This is achieved through day care in our cottage, our seven bed unit and our Hospice in the Home Night Carer Service. We have been extremely grateful to have had the continued support of the Central South Island Charity Bike Ride.
