Sponsorship Information

The Central South Island Charity Bike Ride was born following participation by the organizers, Phil Laurie & Morrell McFetrich in a similar event in Australia raising money for Child Cancer Research. The realization occurred that this was a fund raising activity that not only enabled funds to be raised but was also an opportunity to motivate people, to focus on fitness, exercise, fun and maybe a change in lifestyle, thus increasing health and well being in the workforce and local community. The aim is to support and raise awareness for small South Canterbury groups/organizations who constantly struggle for funding so that they can continue to provide valuable services to local people.

Major sponsors are those who contribute $300 or more in cash or goods.
This entitles the sponsor to the following:
  • $300 - Business Name on the ride jersey, business name on our website
  • $500 - Business Name and  Logo on the ride jersey, business logo and link on our website
  • $ Negotiable - Business Logo on the ride jersey, business logo and link on our website.
Naming Rights to one of the ride groups. Please contact Phil Laurie on (03) 614-3030 to discuss this option.

The Ride Groups for this year are as follows:
Pink Bunnies,   Blue Elephants,   Brown Bears,   Yellow Ducks,   Purple Cows,   Green Frogs,   Grey Mice

Where does your sponsorship money go?
Each rider and support person pays their own way on the ride.
Each rider pays $230 and Support Crew pay a $125 entry fee. The entry fees are used for ride costs such as Ride jersey, Accommodation, Food, Travel, Support vehicle costs, First aid support, Refreshments and the Celebration Dinner at the completion of the ride and other admin costs. This entry fee does not come out of any sponsorhip money raised by the riders! In addition to the $230 entry fee, each rider must raise a minimum of $500 for the charities, many riders raise much much more. Riders raise this money by a variety of means such as gaining sponsorship from business, holding BBQ's, Quiz nights, Chopping firewood, Cyclathons etc. etc.
So the nuts and bolts of it are:

100%
of all donations and sponsorship
goes directly to the charities!
